Helpful Tips
Keep lilangeni coins and 10s ready. Shared minibus taxis leave Mbabane's main rank only when packed. The rank sits beside Swazi Plaza. Count your change.
Grab the Eswatini Public Transport app. It shows live kombi routes between Manzini and Ezulwini. Tap the map. Know when the next kombi rolls up.
Take the MR3 highway out of Mbabane. It runs straight to the South African border at Oshoek. On the far side, minibuses idle for cross-border runs.
Ask your lodge to book a shuttle. It's the most reliable ride to Hlane Royal National Park. Drivers know the gates. You arrive relaxed.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed 'airport taxis' at King Mswati III International Airport quote inflated flat fares to Mbabane or Manzini without using the meter. Insist on using the official airport taxi desk inside the terminal or pre-book a ride through your accommodation.
Currency-exchange kiosks just outside arrivals advertise 'no commission' yet give rates well below the mid-market figure. Compare the offered rate to the real-time figure on your phone and walk to a bank branch in the airport if the gap is wide.
Porters in the baggage-claim area grab bags unsolicited and then demand a high fee in lilangeni or foreign currency. Politely decline assistance unless you need it and, if used, agree on a small tip in advance.
